Dwight Sykes - In The Life Zone

A reissue label PPU makes tracks recorded at home by a 4 track tape recorder for ten years from 1980 to 90 vinyl record. I feel love of Dwight toward music from lo-fi soul which is full of warmth as if Larry Heard meets early Money Mark.

Anarchist Republic of Bzzz - Neural Highways

Avant jazz hiphop fulled with atmosphere which is typical of NY. The sound that unique rap of Sensational bumps into the noisy guitar of Seb El Zin, Arto Lindsay, Marc Ribot takes on disquieting aspect.

Quelle Chris - We Eat It (feat. Cavalier)

The tune by a rapper and a trackmaker from Detroit. I'm stunned because hiphop by the track used jazzy sax and the beat played irregularly is so avant-garde.

Roc Marciano - Marci Beaucoup

He creates the dope sound by centering on perverted and minimal sampling which is equal to DJ premier or more than him. I'd like person who was moved by the album of Prodigy&Alchemist released last year to listen to this.

The duo by husband and wife from Dearborn, Michigan. I'd like fans around Astrobrite to listen to the sound which is vacillating between psychedelic, shoogaezer and drone. The cold vocal reminds me Patty Waters is also great.

Bass Communion「Drugged」

The 1st album by the unit of Steven Wilson who is also active as a member of Porcupine Tree. Ambient which the soprano sax gracefully is floating in the drone space created by the keyboard. I recommend fans of Ekkehard Ehlers.

The EP by a Brooklyn-based female voice performer. Ambient/drone which is used her clear voice to her heart's content is shinning, it is different  from that made by electronics.

Shizuka - Persona in heaven

The dark and monotonous voice of Shizuka Miura I can faintly hear from behind of feedback noise which has sometimes sweet melody is inherited form Reiko Kudo in Noise era. This is the masterpiece of Japanese psychedelic rock which I wouldn't finish to say a stale description such as My Bloody Valentine in Japan.

Pete Flux & Parental - Right Here

Collaboration by A producer in Paris, Parental and a MC in Atlanta, Pete Flux. The jazzy and abstract track which the low howling bass, the soft guitar like Bossa Nova, fat beats are intertwined is completely the sound in 90's way.

Ketev - s/t

I can say this cassette by a young composer in Berlin is one of the important work in this year. The complicated and dark sounds which slightly differs from so-called industrial techno highly arouse listener's imagination.

Monoton - Dubwise

From the 1st solo released in 1980 by a unit of Konrad Becker and so on. Obscure minimal dub constructed by the bass and electronics. The subtle sound like drifting about attracted my ear.

George Coleman - Transistor Radio

From the album by a street performer who was commonly known as Bongo Joe. D.I.Y. beat music which he sings like murmur with beating original instruments modified from an oil drum is the sound like the pioneer of hiphop.

Monday, December 15, 2014

Elodie Lauten - Mister Pip

From the ep by a female artist who is a daughter of Errol Parker and studied under La Monte Young. I'd like fans of a Niyabinghi group, Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari listen to this loose sound as if she combined reggae with minimal music.

Jean-Claude Éloy - Kâmakalâ

The musical piece in 1971 by a French composer. The sound by a orchestra which features a low tone and low speed chorus is ill completion as if he makes drone screwed. The darkness which is equal to a Greek dark composer, Jani Christou is absolutely great.

Richard H. Kirk - Never Lose Your Shadow

The early solo work which is influenced from a movie, "Vanishing Point". Although he admitted this tracks is the blueprint of Cabs in Virgin/Some Bizarre era, the dubby and minimal sound which is sort of the prototype of current industrial techno is really cool.

Friday, December 12, 2014

Arp - Raga For Moog & Violin (2nd Variation)

The musical piece by a unit of a composer in NY, Alexis Georgopoulos is authentic drone which I feel an influence from Phil Niblock. I'd like around fans of Garlo who created drone by playing 54 guitars stuck into a desert with using wind listen to this.

The Smiths - The World Won't Listen

The compilation album which is put together singles in the middle era. Although the sound they who debuted in the age of the rise of hardcore plays is thoroughly soft and pop, Morrissey who had continued to utter malicious words including humor was always confronting the world with the aggressive attitude. Actually, they might be the most hardcore group in that era though they took the opposite method from hardcore bands.

Delroy Edwards - Now u in my trunk

The track is recorded in the mix series 「Slowed Down Funk vol.3」 which focused on G-funk, chopped & screwed. I feel how Delroy has devoted himself into 90's rap from the slow and atmospheric track which combined minimal lyric with lyrical melody.

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Brian Chase - Feedback Drone

From the solo album, "Drums&Drone" by a drummer of Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Serious drone inspired from "Dream house", the installation of La Monte Young makes me feel the blood inherited from forerunners in NY like Tony Conrad.

Camizole「Charles De Gaulle」

The recording in 1977 by a French cult avant-garde group. Although I can call it free jazz or improvisation, but this isn't such polite performance but more primitive and absurd, it's extremely thrilling. The shout by the vocalist has punch in common with Keiji Haino in Lost Araaf Era.

Sunday, December 7, 2014

Polmo Polpo - Acqua

The early work of a musician and a producer, Sandro Perri who comes from Toronto. Cool dub techno which is noisier than Porter Ricks or Monolake. I'd like to experience the dynamic sounds mixed with funky elements at clubs.

Theo Parrish - Be In Yo Self (feat. Ideeyah & Duminie Deporres)

The track from the new album "American Intelligence". Pitch-dark deep house featured melancholic female vocal is like a sequel of masterpiece "Summertime is here".

Friday, December 5, 2014

Keiko Koyama - A hill of spring

Folk music recorded in a home by a female vocalist who has also joined in the improvisational group, Vedda Music Workshop leaded by Kenichi Takeda. The voice which she sings indifferently with piano by herself is sounding forever in my mind. You can hardly listen to such a supple and strong-minded singing.

Terry Riley - Poppy Nogood

The work released in 1969 by Terry Riley who struck controversial in the performance in Japan last month. (Not Riley himself, but the organizer) Minimal music which he overlaid saxes leads listeners to the state of trance. The roots of Battle Trance I introduced last month is exactly here.

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Werner Durand - The art of buzzing

The first solo album by a German artist who has joined in the French sax group, Urban Sax. I'd like Sunn O))) fans to listen to dynamic and loud drone which duplicated Iranian Ney, PVC-pipe and various instruments or tools. This is released from Edition RZ, a prestige label of experimental/contemporary music.

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

Keiji Haino - Watashidake?

The first album which the person himself said "Japanese country blues". When you listen to this work, you shouldn't miss the question mark on the title. Some number of the song which will disband the ego completely and lead to release with sometimes minute and at other times ultimately noisy guitar. I don't know other works which is such mysterious and produce an intensive musical experience for me.
